Tihar (known as Diwali in India) takes place over five days in Nepal, usually in October. Starting in the evening of the third day (which is a Laxmi Puja) and continuing till the end of the festival, boys and girls go door to door singing songs called Duesi (sung by boys) and Bhailo (sung by girls) and the adults reward them with money, snacks and sweets.
